We know that roofing repairs can be overwhelming, especially if you're not a roofing professional. You may not clearly understand how your roofing system's components work together. So to get a better idea of what your repair might entail, we have compiled a list of actual repairs and costs.
Leak Area: Bathroom and Shower Area
Level I $495.00 + 1 Bundle Shingles $41.00 + 2" Bullet Boot $17.50 + 1/2 Decking $35.00 = $588.50
This is known as a plumbing stack, a PVC pipe designed to release plumbing gas from the PVC pipes within your home. Unfortunately, some contractors opt for inexpensive 3in1 neoprene boots that tend to crack and deteriorate over time.
To begin, it is important to take out the previous 3in1 boot and carefully examine the surrounding area for any signs of deteriorating wood. If any is found, it will be necessary to replace it promptly. After the area has been thoroughly cleaned and sealed, we can proceed to the subsequent step.
Next, we'll proceed with the installation of the Bullet Boot. This newly patented product offers enhanced safety, durability, and visual appeal compared to the 3in1 alternatives. Its exceptional construction and inbuilt rodent screen guarantee dependable protection against water intrusion. After the Bullet Boot is set up, we'll replace the shingles around the damaged area and seal everything securely.
Leak Area: Area below the penetration
Level I $495.00 + 1 Bundle Shingles $41.00 + 1/2 Decking $35.00 = $571.00
In Florida, strong winds have the potential to carry debris at high speeds, which can penetrate your roof shingles and decking. As a result, water can directly enter your home's interior, leading to immediate damage. Due to the severity of this type of damage, it requires an emergency response to prevent further harm to the interior of your home.
To begin repairing the roof, it is necessary to remove the shingles and cut out any damaged decking in the affected region. We will replace the compromised decking with fresh 1/2" sheathing and secure it with 8D ring-shank framing nails to provide a sturdy base for the new underlayment and shingles. Next, we will proceed with the installation of synthetic underlayment to ensure complete sealing of the area, before moving on to the final step.
We will now move forward with the installation of the new architectural shingles, aiming to match them as closely as possible to the existing shingles. To secure the new shingles, we will use six (6) 1.5" roofing nails in the specified nailing zones, followed by the application of roofing cement to hasten the sealing process of the shingle system. This will effectively conclude the repair, ensuring that the area is watertight.
Leak Area: Area below the nail pop
Level I $495.00 + 1 Bundle Shingles $41.00 + 1/2 Decking $35.00 = $571.00
Over time, an architectural shingle can become unsealed due to wind or mechanical damage. When the shingle nail is exposed to water, it can rust and back out of the sheathing, compromising the wood underneath. If you notice multiple nail pops, this is a sign of compromised wood, which can cause the shingle to lift and increase the risk of water damage to the structure.
In order to start fixing the roof, the first step is to take off the shingles and remove any damaged decking from the affected section. We will swap out the damaged decking with new 1/2" sheathing and use 8D ring-shank framing nails to secure it, ensuring a solid foundation for the new underlayment and shingles. After that, we will install synthetic underlayment to fully seal the area, before moving onto the final stage.
Our next step is to install the new architectural shingles, ensuring that they match the existing ones as closely as possible. For securing the new shingles, we will use six (6) 1.5" roofing nails in the specified nailing zones and apply roofing cement to speed up the sealing process of the shingle system. This will finalize the repair and make sure that the area is completely waterproof.
Leak Area: Area below the debris pile
Level I $495.00 + 1 Bundle Shingles $41.00 + 1/2 Decking $35.00 = $571.00
If many trees are overhanging your roof, you might find large piles of debris accumulating on it. These piles are made up of leaves and moss that can trap water, causing it to seep under the shingles and into the structure of your roof. In severe cases, this can even damage the decking underneath. When this happens, a repair is needed asap.
To begin the roof repair process, the initial step involves removing the shingles and any damaged decking from the affected area. We will replace the damaged decking with new 1/2" sheathing and secure it firmly using 8D ring-shank framing nails to establish a sturdy base for the new underlayment and shingles. Once this is done, we will install synthetic underlayment to completely seal the area before proceeding to the final stage.
Our next task is to install the latest architectural shingles, carefully selecting ones that closely match the existing ones. To secure them, we'll use six (6) 1.5" roofing nails in the specified nailing zones and apply roofing cement to speed up the sealing process of the shingle system. This will complete the repair and ensure that the area is completely waterproof.
